Brief History Of Pulps Table Of Contents Provenance

Pulps Grading
The "A-C-E " grading system, accessible on the previous page, applies
here with only a bit of extra leniency. Specifically in regards to the
aforementioned common practice of "laminating " the spines with
cellotape. Also the tattered or trimmed or "backed" overlapping areas of
the cover paper. Unlike most other dealers in these magazines, we have
provided a field in each listing to provide details of the flaws
that are unique to each copy. However, as space is limited it was necessary to do
two things. An inordinate amount of "shorthand" had to be utilised
[see "Short Forms" in the Table Of Contents]. Secondly, minor flaws which
occur at almost every issue are only mentioned when space permits. These
"common minors" MAY include:
  • arrival-date stamps.
  • SMALL aftermarket prices [10¢].
  • Vol. & Iss. # on small pieces
of paper, usually under the spine tape.
  • wrinkling of the spine or cover paper along the spine edge,
caused by the glue with which the cover was originally attached.
  • misalignment of the cover sheet; most frequently a portion of the
spine area would show along the edge of the front cover.
  • pencilled notes inside, usually on the Table of Contents page
